(i have a strange obsession with stash)

Financial Risk Management (FRM) is anything but kind

i used to thought it would a very practical/useful module.

but such thoughts were far from the truth.

let me rant.

i do not deny that this is an interesting module.

(but understand first my definition of interesting

is derived from the fact that i think finance is phoney)

Dennis Philip is a capable lecturer.

However.

it lacks the practical application that i seek.

nobody in the industry actually uses historical simulation to calculate VaR.

furthermore, the lecture is so packed with content.

understanding the concepts is one.

applying it is another.

my proposed solution :

work on FRM every single day

yes. 

and i am glad i do not dislike it

(not that the fellowship with FRM is pleasant)

finally met Judith (Hatfield's librarian)

for my "training"

apparently i was the only one hatfield postgrad who signed up to volunteer.

i am not proud of this

but yes, this is hatfield.

agreed to volunteer 3 times a week for the next 3 weeks

monday, wednesday and friday

1-5pm

i just see it as an opportunity for me to study.
